Ombak Bali kicked off wednesday night with a unique Bali screening of the Drifter, the new Taylor Steele movie on Rob Machado travelling through Indonesia in search for waves and himself. The festival screened the first public viewing as the film is still in postproduction. The Drifter is a
visual metaphor for a free spirit’s conscious abandonment of the worldly traps of modern life as Rob Machado searchs for the inner freedom and spiritual joy offered by a life of renunciation. The invited guests were totally immersed by the roadmovie and the music. It’s a very genuine roadmovie which shows a personal side of Rob Machado and the warmth and sincereness of the Indonesian people. And of course Rob catches plenty of amazing surf.
The Drifter screens tonight, Friday August 21 at 21.15 in the Discovery Room. The short feature ‘Olas’ will be screened first.
